Nom De Code Digit (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

"I'de gone into the FBI and stumbled upon Mr. Darcy"Hahaha... that's why I continued reading, I know this book is good. After some serious Dystopians and Science Fictions, reading A Girl Named Digit really is a refreshing. This time we will meet Farrah Higgins, a math genius who go undercover as normal girl in high school. Yeah, the one who was born as nerd sometimes could be really difficult to blend in without someone taken advantages but would never ever been invited to a party. That's why by cooperating with her high school, they hide all kinds of test she has taken, from daily math exercise, her SAT score up to the fact that she has been accepted in MIT, so she appears to be a normal teenage girl. However, nerd is a nerd and she has tendency to lost control when she stumbled into any illogical order and tried to solve it. In one afternoon, when she watched a teenage sitcom with her friends, she found there are some series of number before the sitcom started and it has been happening for 3 weeks in a row which happen to be reversed Fibbonaci and 911. Reversed Fibonnaci means reversed 911 or 11/9 - November 9, the date when John F. Kennedy selected as the first Catholic President in 1960. And at the same time, a terrorist organization attacked JFK airport, is it a coincident? Of course not, Farrah just found out how one of the fast-growing terrorist organization called Jonas Furnis communicates to each other. This matter brought her and her dad to the FBI and there 'she stumbled upon Mr. Darcy' named John Bennett. With a series of stupidity, Farrah finally directly encountered with one of the terrorists and brought her back under FBI's wings for safety. A fake kidnapping created to hide Farrah with full time surveillance by John Bennett. Together they are working to crack code hidden in some terrorist conversations and found out there is a diaper bag full of proofs to blackmail someone named Britney and Luke. Here we go, the adventure started to get the bag and one night they are ended in John Bennett's family secret lair and force Farrah to meet the Fockers and somehow John's father, Henry Bennett, who happen to be CIA agent along with his wife, is really interesting in Farrah and her theory about there is someone is actually a sympathizer of terrorist inside FBI. So, together with the CIA, John finally found out that his boss, Steven Bonning is the one who is a double agent. After they encountered Steven Bonning who finally kill himself, they got new code that described where the next attack will taken place. Surprisingly, in the middle of decoding the code, Mockery of Darwin's Diagram, Farrah's blond friend, Olive crashing the party and helping. Yes, it happens that her signed up to Biology Club in tenth grade by accident is not for nothing. She knows what that means, Jonas Furnis called themselves an organization who don't mind to kill for the sake of environment, Darwin's Diagram is also known as the Tree of Life, and according to Olive there is a Tree of Life made from plastic in Disney World which closely related to the mockery, how could a Tree of Life made of plastic? So, here they are, saving the world.Well, one more thing about this book is Farrah and John, yes they 'found love in the hopeless place'. After the series of attack and near-dead experience, they finally found out that there is something between them, though John keeps reminding them that no matter how close Farrah's eighteen birthday is, she is still a minor for the time being. And, an offer from FBI in chief to a prestigious position in Special Sector that John has been dreaming of, caused a big broken heart to Farrah because it means John should leave her for a better career.Yeah, this book is having happy ending. Don't worry about that, because I hate book with bad ending. Anyway, there is going a second book, so John and Farrah is not end here. Besides, John finally realized that he cannot live without Farrah and quit the job, instead he joins Terror Task Force in New York. So, I've been reading the second book since last night. Will do the review too...e A great premise (decoding - always fun!) that gets immediately brushed aside in favor of an annoying and implausible romance. The FBI agent, who represents the idealized boyfriend in every way, completely takes over any sort of plot development and the plot just become increasingly dangerous excuses to be together in a small space. In her favor, though, the author does write convincing teen dialogue.
