I think the reasons this got bumped up to 3 stars (or at least 2.5) for me are twofold: 1) I actually didn't mind the writing style too much, and could see myself reading other HPs by Sandra Marton (which is good, because I have two more with me) and 2) This was such a classic case of the hero being enslaved by the Magic Hoo Hoo (trademark courtesy SmartBitchesTrashyBooks) that it lifted the mood of dramangst (that permeates all HPs) and provided comic relief. Phew...so glad this one was great. The last Presents book I read was not at ALL to my taste, and I was beginning to think I had outgrown Presents... This one was fabulous. Caroline was so innocent by fiesty, and Lucas was such a sweetheart underneath it all. I could actually believe the misunderstandings and fears they encountered, and could believe the HEA at the end. In fact, it left me smiling like a dope. :)
I only read this because there was a cat. But there wasn't enough of the cat.

Fiery, passionate, slightly twisted characters and very quick read.
