4 StarsIf I'm allowed I would give this 4.5 stars. It was a pretty great book, except....I had trouble with Finn. I didn't get a good description of what Finn looked like so I had trouble picturing him in my mind. I loved how he stood up as a young adult and took care of his brothers, that was amazing. However, I feel he was portrayed to be very childish as well as very responsible, is this possible? He literally threw tantrums that was to be expected of a 5 yr old not getting their way in a toy store. I would picture a grown man stomping his feet and whining how his brothers didn't want to do what he wanted. With that being said it was hard to instantly fall in love with Finn. When little miss Hannah came along , boy did I fall for Finn though. He took care of Dakota and Hannah like they were his own family and it was beautiful. (Except when he ran off at the end, booo!!) I feel the story jived very well until the ending when she told him she was preggo. I expected Finn to grab her and Hannah into his arms and say that he finally has everything he ever wanted. Did he do this? Heck no! He took off and she had to go after him. Maybe I'm old fashioned in thinking he should've been the one trying to win her back and prove how stupid he acted :/ oh well at least they are together I suppose. If the ending was tweaked a bit, I would've given the full five stars. *As for the other characters, I love Aurelia! I loved how she stood up to her mother and I liked how her and Stephen were able to overcome their age gap. It was a little hard to picture Stephen being this young adult because of how his brother Finn talked about him. When the two were making out, I was picturing a teenager and a grown woman so that scene didn't work for me. At the end of the story when Stephen was declaring his love for Aurelia and protecting her from Finn, that is when he matured in my eyes. I hope to hear more of their story in future books.*P.s. I failed to mention Dakota. Oops! I loved this woman sooo much. She was a strong woman, who was given a tough diagnosis but she still didn't let that get in the way of her having children. She took charge and was such a natural when given baby Hannah. Her maternal instincts kicked in right away and you could just feel the amount of love that she had for her darling daughter. susan mallery, rocks!!This story is about Dakota Hendrix a psychologist. Finn Anderssen a pilot from Alaska. In Fool's Gold there are more woman than men. A Hollywood director heard about this and had a bright idea to have a reality show about it. She is representing the town on this project. She hates that this is taking place. Finn comes to Fool's Gold to bring back his twin brothers. They came to sign up for the reality show. One wants to be a star and other just came to get away from there over bearing brother Finn. They only have 3 months of college left and Finn wants them to come back to finish. When his parents died, His brothers were only 11yrs old. He took over the family business and took care of his brothers. He just wants to make sure they finish school. Then he wants to be done with responsibility and live his own life. He meets Dakota and wants her to help him make his brothers see that this is wrong and should go back with him.
