The hair on my neck stood on end. He shook out his arms and gently laid them across her guitar nervously bouncing off her knees. She looked up at me and caught my expression as it changed from supportive to protective then back to supportive again. I had to turn away. I wanted Gracie to do this, but I couldn’t watch, yet I had to at the same time. “Relax, Gracie. I’m going to show you something.” He leaned closer and looked at the guitar from over her right shoulder. Gracie took a deep breath and nodded. “You ready?” I wished he would turn his sultry tone down a few notches. Gracie nodded. “Okay. I want you to lay your arms over mine like they are part of me. I want you so close that we strum these chords like we are one person.” Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. I knew this was how he would teach Gracie to let go and lose herself in the music, but it started to look like he was losing himself in what it felt like to touch Gracie. Why, in God’s name, could this guy not be smelly and greasy?
