Once Upon A Time In Bliss [Nights In Bliss, Colorado Prequel] (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
OK, I honestly wasn't super hyped about this one, and then it turns out to be my favourite so far. Weird. I just LOVED the chemistry between Henry and Nell, and how absolutely crazy and insane and elaborate their backstory was!! Nell was like Henry's heaven. *sigh* So good. And seeing so many of the characters 5 years earlier -- fabulous! Getting bigger glimpses into all of their lives before their HEA -- SO GOOD! Yup, this was just perfection for me. 2013, September 9This book has me wanting to go back and re-read all these books. I love the look into Nell and Henry's beginning. For some reason I thought these two were older. I am not sure why. There are some really funny lines in this story and some very sad places. I loved getting a look at Logan Green before he became a deputy and was tortured. There are also hints to Ms. Oak's Faery series which was very cool. So let's see what I can say about Henry Flanders. He is all alpha, dominant male. He was once in the special forces and was a CIA operative. He is very smart and efficient. He takes his service seriously until he meets Nell. Spending time with Nell shows him that he can be compassionate and caring and still be strong. He is also an abused child that spent too much time in the foster care system.Nell is a dream and a bleeding heart liberal. She is willing to protest anyone or anything. She is an idealist. She is also a caring, loving and compassionate individual. She is taking care of her dying mother in this story. She hasn't been in Bliss long but she has already made her mark on the community. She is also fearless which isn't always a good thing because she isn't into violence and sometimes there are people that don't understand anything else. In many ways she is the perfect mate for Henry. She is submissive but she can stand up for herself and she can keep Henry in line when she it comes time. This is a good story and fits in well with the rest of the series. We get to see some of the back story of how the Bliss series came together. I get the feeling this is the first killing in the town. I loved the bar fight. It shows that Max Harper is a little on the crazy side and always was. There is enough hot, steamy six to burn up the book so keep a fire extinguisher handy. There is also some spanking, bondage, toys and anal sex. I loved this story and can't wait to read the next book in this series.2014, September 9I first read this book just a little over a year ago. I enjoyed this story just as much this time as I did the first time. I am sure I can't add anything to this review that wasn't in the first one. It was nice to read about one of the other Dawson brothers. I continue to hope that Ms. Oak will write books for the remaining brothers. I also enjoyed the hints at the faery realm that Ms. Oak hinted at throughout this story. We also get a hint at the next book which will involve Logan Green and Georgia Dawson and Seth Green who was introduced in this book.It would be so nice if there was a place like Bliss. I might even go there to live even though I am not a fan of small towns. I do love the mountains and the Colorado Rockies are some of the most beautiful in this country. I miss snow sometimes and I would get snow if I lived in the mountains. If you have liked the others books in this series you will love this introduction to all the people that live in Bliss before everything starts to happen. I love this series more and more.
