Will, a game warden in rural Maine, and Calista, a graphic designer in Hartford, meet when she hits a deer on her way through his small hometown going to a friend's wedding. Her car is going to take a week to fix so she's stuck there. The only room available is in an Inn that's been closed for several years. Now the owners just live there, but they are happy to let her stay in one of their rooms. Will lives in this house and is the great nephew of the Inn's owner, Dottie. He takes care of her and helps her keep up the large building. I liked the writing style in One Week in Maine. Everything is vivid and extremely well laid out. The author created a world that you can imagine yourself walking into. I would love to visit Maine now. There was lots of steamy sex but I was glad that the sex scenes weren't terribly explicit.I liked the characters and felt a connection with Calista. I understood her thoughts on not being 'that kind of girl' but went for it anyway. I did wonder why she was so adamant about going back to Hartford when it didn't look like she had all that much to go back to. Will was wonderful. Very capable, kind and considerate, especially of his aunt. And, of course, handsome. I was a bit puzzled by his mood swings the first few times they had sex. I didn't know what to make of him but it was explained later. The secondary characters were well developed and added interest to the story. Dottie especially was a nice addition but did not take away from the main characters at all. I won this book in a giveaway. Well, this story definitely has a unique and captivating beginning. I was caught right from the get-go. I really appreciate the whirlwind with a pause. It makes the relationship seem more realistic and plausible. Not only does Ryan have a very well developed storyline that will tug at your heart and make you giggle a time or two, but her phenomenal writing style will draw you in. Her descriptions are beyond compare. Everything is simultaneously down to earth and out of this world. Although natural and realistic she makes everything pop with vivid realism. I love the main character. She’s such a city girl and so real. Her reactions are to the core. It’s priceless at times. The male lead is great too. You really get to know him as in individual and as a professional. The supporting cast lends a hometown feel to the story. Some are quite well developed, while others remain superficial. It really adds to the story itself. Their developmental status is directly related to their role in the story. Overall this was a very unique yet utterly enjoyable story. I couldn’t put it down and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
