Gregg Hurwitz writes edge of the seat, hard to put down thrillers. Wonderfully plotted that carry you along no matter how implausible the eventual outcome is. I'd recommend them to anyone. Some readers who prefer a more florid approach to literature might struggle with Mr Hurwitz style. More is definitely less for him, compressing masses of detail in every sentence. Because I like to vary my reading material I need to adjust to his style during the early chapters, but writers looking to draw in the modern reader could learn a lot from this author. The central character discovers his wife has slept with his neighbour; his career as a screenwriter is in tatters and to cap it all, he learns his house has been under surveillance. Why is he being watched and what do the people observing his every move want? As the tension ratchets up he is contacted and asked to perform tasks or face the consequences, what should he do?Highly recommended book that is thoroughly entertaining. A truly unusual mystery that you believe can happen to nearly anyone in this age of little privacy. It is fascinating to see what our world has come to and what is possible if someone with wealth and technology wants to ruin you. It was truly scary and that was the understory. The main couple in a troubled marriage find themselves in an untenable position and they have to decide what they mean to each other to get through a very difficult intrusion on their lives. Liked the message and was terrified by what technology has wrought!
Loved this book. Will read everything he writes. Suspense, action, great characters, love his style.
