Well, this book kept me up reading late at night - couldn't stop. We have three main characters in this story. 1) Surgeon Nick Garrity is a vet suffering PTSD who drives around in a mobile medical unit dispensing medical treatment to the poor and homeless in D.C. and Baltimore. He is always on the lookout for his best friend from the war, Umberto Vasquez, who has disappeared. 2) Jillian Coates, a psychiatric nurse, who believes her sister Belle (an ICU nurse) was killed rather than the apparent suicide it looked like. 3) Franz Koller, evil incarnate, who is a master assassin of the non-kill (murder that does look like murder) is being hired by a vice-presidential candidate to murder all personnel involved in a specific surgical case. Nick and Jillian are brought together by a stack of comic books featuring Nick Fury - a nickname given to Dr. Nick when he was in Afghanistan. There is instant attraction between them, and they begin searching for Belle's killer. This leads them to discover what actually happened to Umberto and a suspicious plastic surgery facility. It all comes together for a chilling ending. Highly suspenseful and pulse-pounding thriller. A conspiracy involving the upper levels of government are behind a mysterious murder, which has been called a suicide. Jillian knows her sister, Belle would never have killed herself. She enlists the help of Dr. Nick "Fury" and, together, they work to find out what happened to Belle, and all the other innovent victims they discover along the way. I'm giving it only 4 stars because it was a little graphic for my taste, but it was a great read otherwise.
What do You think about Ostatni Chirurg (2012)?
I love medical thrillers! This wasn't one of his best, but I still loved it!

Lots of excitement but a little convoluted to follow.
