Out of the Easy, by Ruta Sepetys, is about a girl named Josie whose mother is a prostitute. When Josie’s mother starts dating a criminal (who loathes Josie), Josie breaks away from the life of a prostitute’s daughter and decides that she wants to go to college and receive an education. One strenght about this book is that it keeps readers interested with plot twists and exciting events. Ruta Sepetys’s writing is very good. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes romance because this is one of the main themes in the book. I will continue to read books by this author. This book was an escape from all the Apocalyptic adventures I've been on lately. This was truly a good YA novel. It was so much better than I expected, when I picked it up. I really loved Josie because she was strong through out the novel. She didn't turn out to be a whiny teenage girl. My favorite character was Willie because she felt real. She was a strong independent women who had tough love for everyone. This was a good and an enjoyable book to read.
