Overflow (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

4 solid Gabba Gabba stars! This was a really enjoyable read. There were some issues with editing but nothing to through me off track. The story started off right away and hooks you. As you see in other reviews it does have a KA feel to it, but it has its own legs to stand on. Gabby finds herself at the wrong place and the wrong time getting herself questioned by the FBI/ and ATF during a raid. Gabby throws her attitude and gets herself noticed by one hot and sexy agent. What follows are the ups, downs, and craziness of being a member of a huge family, a target of a scumbag gun trafficker, and being a drama magnet. It was an enjoyable read with a hint is suspense and heartache, but the icing was the epilogue. I swear if more authors gave longer epilogues I would be an extra happy girl. This book can be read as a stand alone, but I am super excited about book 2 as it follows gab's cousin Tony. This story was entertaining and really easy to enjoy. It starts out with a funny and dramatic meeting between the main characters (Gabby and Jude), and the attraction between the two is hot. Gabby is quirky and beautiful, with just enough sass to hold her own. Jude is awesome, a complete sexy alpha package. He’s bossy and protective, but doesn’t come off like an overbearing ass. There were so many sweet moments and I loved seeing how crazy Jude was about Gabby. The book fortunately has both characters POV, this really helped since Jude was quiet compared to Gabby. The book is very descriptive (maybe too much) and there are a lot of secondary characters. Gabby has a large group of friends and a huge Italian family. The large cast of characters added to the story, and for the most part were endearing. There's quite a bit of suspense and even a few surprises near the end.Unfortunately the book wasn’t perfect. I noticed a number of misspelled words and mistakes that took me temporarily out of the story. It wasn’t enough to ruin the book, but hopefully they’ll be fixed with an update in the future. For me the book started out really strong, but lagged just a little bit past the mid-way mark. The story comes back quickly however, and the ending is exciting with a lot of action.I’m impressed with this debut novel and I’m looking forward to reading more in the future. 4+ Stars
