The view took her breath away each morning when she rushed up the steps to glimpse the sunrise. Hunter preferred to sleep in a little longer, but sometimes she was able to rouse him to join her for an early breakfast on the rooftop terrace. Today, however, she was alone as the first rays of brilliant orange light spilled through the trees. The birds below chirped louder and the familiar sounds of the forest waking up surrounded her.“I brought you some tea.” Hunter appeared in the doorway and strode onto the balcony, dressed and freshly showered. He passed her a mug of steaming herbal tea, the one thing she seemed to crave the most since the beginning of her pregnancy. She smiled and took a sip, savoring the sweetness of the honey he’d added. “Thanks, Hunter. I thought you were going to sleep in.”He straightened, his expression one of mock offense. “I’m a farmer now, and farmers rise early.”A laugh escaped her as he sank into a plush chair and patted his thigh. She approached and sat on his lap, careful not to spill her tea, and also careful of her tender bottom.
