Pamuk İpliği (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

It really pains me to give this book 3 stars because I love Brenda Jackson so much. I will say though that I like the fact that she totally changed her writing style with this book. Usually most of Brenda's books are the same, meet, fall in love, have super hot sex, marry, the end. This story had a lot more depth then her usual. I gave this 3 stars because I thought the story line between the main characters Erica and Brian was quite boring. The supporting cast really stole the show in this book. It seems like Erica & Brian's story was just there to fill the pages. Every time the story line went back to them I felt like I wanted it to end right away so that I could read about the other characters. Now on to the meat and potatoes. Rita & Wilson's story is what romance novels are all about. Wilson is Erica's father, who is still very much married to her mother Karen who is the wicked which of the west. Rita is Brian's mother who has been widowed for many years after the death of his father. I don't want to give away too much, but Wilson's marriage was loveless from the beginning and sexless for (20yrs!) Who knew that a 59yr old man could work it the way Wilson did. Not only was he passionate in bed, but he was passionate in every other aspect of their relationship as well. The other spotlight stealer's were Griffin and April. Griffin is who Karen (Erica's mother) wants her to end up with, and April is Erica's best friend. These two just had amazing chemistry. Every time the story turned back to them I didn't want it to end. If the book was strictly about these two I would have been thoroughly satisfied. All in all the book was good. Had it not been for Erica & Brian I thought the book would have been excellent. I will continue to read and support Brenda Jackson, and I hope she continues writing with this style because it was certainly a breath of fresh air from her usual. May have started out a bit slow (Mrs. Jackson had quite a few characters to set up in this new series), but once the ball got to rolling.... Boy did it roll!I enjoyed this intro into the author's new series. The pace was a bit slow in the beginning, but picks up about a 1/3 of the way in & just keeps going. I can't wait to see what's next in line for this cast.Fair warning to Mrs. Jackson's fans. This is not one of her romances. When you pick up Silken Thread, be prepared for scandal, deceit, sex, and love.
