This was a decent book. Everything was wrapped up quite nicely at the end, but at the same time I felt like it was a anti-climatic. I wanted Cassie to deal with Theran and little bitchy Queen, and while she did after a fashion I wanted her to deal with them personally and have it out with them. I am glad that there wasn't a war because it's nice to read about people not going to war to settle their differences, but I do wish that Cassie had a bigger "umph" ending in dealing with the wayward Price and the bitch Queen. Overall, a decent read. The story this time is a bit better than "The Shadow Queen" - the darker-jeweled blood do tone it back somewhat in this book, as if they realize they need to let the lighter-jeweled blood work out their own problems without stepping in all the time. But Sadi and the gang do still manage to steal the show at times. In terms of characters, Cassidy is better in this book than the last, and seems to grow as a character, but these books do lack the desperation and desire that were present in the original trilogy. Again, I can't help thinking that it is time to let the new characters share the spotlight. Let new stories grow. And as much as I love Sadi and the gang, it is time for them to go - they have had their stories, now let them have a well earned rest.
I love, love, love, this series. Absolutely awesome. I'm a sucker for every one of the characters. I am ready to pack up and leave for Kaeleer. (Provided I'm a Blood Queen, of course) But, poor Jeanelle, how terrible she would feel when Sadi left her for me. I don't think I could do that to her. Oh, who am I kidding, I'd do it in a heartbeat.Anyway, this is the continuation of Cassidy's story. A nice conclusion. I really liked it. I liked how things turned out. LOVE

Uck. NOTHING happened at all! Like, nothing! Just a bunch of pretty-spoiled girl vs earth-plain girl. And a bunch of sniffy, posturing, annoying dudes. Is this even the same series? Where are any of the aspects that made the first 3(4) books so memorable? This was actually a chore to read. It felt like a fanfic, actually, I think I would be relieved if I found out that this was just a fanfic.

Pretty good, any visit to the Black jewels world is a good thing.
