Paranormal State: My Journey Into The Unknown (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

Read in 2 days, after getting into Paranormal State reruns on tv. Ryan seems like a really nice guy and the stories were fun. I am a big fan of ghost stories and watch almost all the paranormal shows (call them my 'ghostie shows'). I find it so interesting. Now I can't wait to see more eps of this show, whether you believe in this stuff or not, PRS takes it seriously which makes it a lot more fun to believe or if you view it as purely fictional, you'll be entertained at the least. One of the better-written paranormal books that I've read, probably because it was co-written by a legitimate author. It was fun to read about a case and then go back and watch the episode. It made me wish the episodes were 40 minutes long, because they really had to cut a lot of stuff out. Buell writes about some pretty interesting experiences, but for me, it goes back to the whole "seeing is believing" thing - I can't really believe any of this stuff until I've seen it for myself. Since finishing the book, I learned that Ryan was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year, and I have spent a lot of time thinking about how messed up that is and how sad I feel for him. In the book, he comes across as a nice guy who has a genuine desire to help people, which makes it even crappier that he got a horrendous disease at such a young age. I don't know what the odds are of beating pancreatic cancer, but I sure hope he's able to do it.

What do You think about Paranormal State: My Journey Into The Unknown (2010)?

I like the show so I wanted to read the book. Parts were a bit disjointed but overall a good read.

the only thing behind the scenes is a poor script...

A little to slow for me, but I do like Ryan Buell
