I'm a fan of Mindy's fantasy romances (Jane Madison etc) so was happy to try a straight romance (even though it's not something I pick up often). It was a good, breezy read. However, I was a little disappointed that there were some unresolved threads that the author deemed unimportant to wrap up (like the two father son issues that were the main catalysts for the drama and 'low point'). But I found the characters charming and their motivations clear and was happy I'd chosen it for a summer read. Overall Rating: ♔♔♔♔ (4)Romance: ❤❤❤❤(4.5)Drama: ★★★★ (4.5)Humor: ➹➹➹ (3.5) I really liked this book from the very beginning . I picked this book because it was short and seemed like it would be a good quick read as I had just read a series that took a lot of concentration and had me a little drained. This book was exactly that and refreshed me and had me smiling throughout. DJ Thomas is a pitcher in the majors following in the shadows of his Hall of Fame father and trying to raise the third chain in the dynasty, “Trey”. DJ was raised under pressure to be the best and has been raising his son the same way until he insults Summer Queen and meets a lady that can change his future and help him heal the pain from the past. Samantha Winger, Miss Summer Queen, is determined to get her music program, Musicall, launched before she has to hand the crown over. All she has to do is find the sponsors and avoid any controversy. For the good girl Sam that should be no problem until she is insulted on national television by DJ Thomas and she is forced to confront him and the butterflies that he creates in her stomach. Follow DJ and Sam on their romantic journey as they find themselves, become friends and lovers and learn to let “Trey” make decisions for himself. This is a perfect quick read and I would highly recommend to sports lovers, romance lovers, and single dad lovers =) visit my blog: redheadreadingaddict.blogspot.com
