Perfectly Broken (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

Hoping his past wouldn't cost him his future...I can't resist broken characters, they melt my heart and give me hope that you can survive $hit and still find love. Reed is a sexy man-whore who can't resist a buffet. He simply chooses to sample them all, and even though he doesn't ever do a sleep-over, the women still like him afterwards. Being an architect, Reed has the ability to see beneath the sometimes unappealing exterior to the beauty hidden inside. When he first sees Peyton behind the counter of her pie shop, the baggy clothes, apron, and ball cap do not keep him from seeing her. He's not usually a patient man...he's used to women chasing him...but now, if he wants to get to know her...he's gonna have to learn. Peyton is broken...damaged...hiding...hopeless. Reed is the first man that doesn't give up after a few attempts. Her camouflage isn't working, he sees beneath the baggy sweaters, behind the hair that hides the scars, past her fear and into her heart. It's not all heartbreak and trauma, there is some fun too. Their friends, Bret and Quinn had me laughing out loud. There are some things that will be forever stuck in my head...'Shame On You' kit...slut drawer..panty wisdom...Little Mermaid porn. Intrigued, aren't you? This was my first Prescott Lane read and I really enjoyed it (in spite of the random POV changes), and look forward to more from this author. Two people with troubled pasts, will this last or be a recipe for disaster?? Peyton works as a baker, hiding herself from the world in her over-sized clothing and brusk personality. Reed is a playboy, who does not want a commitment, hides his true feelings and comes from wealth. Will their relationship last when they find out each others secrets from their past?? This book shows that there are second chances in life to get things right and that even broken pieces can fit together like a puzzle.
