I'm still new to the cozy mystery genre so I can't say what makes a good or bad book in those aspects, however I do love the writing in this "first in the series" book. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next one entails. There was just enough magic to get me hooked into the next book. Now that I'm familiarized with the characters, I'm ready to see what story line they play in the upcoming book. The plot isn't half bad, though a little over the top (an infidelity involving red-headed twins opens the book), but the metaphors are so overdone I had to stop every once in a while and read them aloud, just to share their ridiculousness. Ellery Adams' Books by the Bay series is must better, and the Novel Idea series (which she co-authors under the name Lucy Arlington) are also to be recommended. But unless you want to read a hunky swimmer being compared to a breaching whale, you might best steer clear. Sorry.
What do You think about Pies And Prejudice (2012)?
I really loved this precious mystery. Thank you Ellery Adams!
