This book is about John Deal, a small-time Miami contractor. In an unlikely series of events he ends up in a ceremony that goes awry. Both he and the first lady are kidnapped by shadowy crooks and taken to a Caribbean island. Meanwhile his friend, Vernon Driscoll, an ex-cop, searches for him. Dirscoll manages to out-search the entire US government, find the crooks and kill most of them. Deal and the first lady escape after a hurricane kills more of the bad guys, resurrect their boat and sail themselves to freedom. It turns out that the operation was orchestrated by a corrupt presidential aide and a former CIA operative.vA page-turning thriller with a very unsatisfying ending.
