Female lead has be the alpha of her people since she was a young teen. As soon as the male lead comes in he starts treating her like the little woman who don't know nothing about nothing and she takes it. Ugh. I could barely get through it and am now rather annoyed I bought the other two in the series before reading Primal Quest. I wouldn't have spent the money if I had known when I was through with PQ I wouldn't have any desire to read more. Oh well, live and learn. :( Just...wow. I'd file this book under "epic".In this book's world, there is travel between planets and creatures of all sorts. Caidi is a shifter and the alpha of an all female pack that lives in seclusion. She and some of her pack have decided to try to seduce males of their kind and get pregnant, leaving them drugged and none-the-wiser. What Caidi didn't count on was picking the one male that turned out to be her mate. And he wasn't about to let her get away scot-free.Caidi was a great character. She was half protective alpha female and half innocent, mixed up to make an intriguing woman. She was torn leaving her mate, but knew she needed to protect her females and prepare them, because she knew her mate would find her eventually. He was a special breed of her people, the most dangerous male of all, and his pack was quite happy to find a place to call home within the walls of Caidi's pack's walled city.Raven was alpha male to the core. He throws around the word "mine" a lot, insists on protecting Caidi for her own good, and is unreasonable most of the time. But the glimpses into his character from his POV show a truly honorable male that wants to love his mate and take care of her. He's the kind of alpha male that I adore. An unbendable as iron on the outside but as tender as a teddy bear on the inside.This novel was quite long and filled to the brim with world-building, backstories, and sex. Holy hotness Batman! Every time I turned the page, Raven and Caidi were tumbling between the sheets (or other places). There was so much that I enjoyed about the book - Caidi's stubbornness, Raven's calm arrogance, the unique world. I haven't read anything by Rebecca before, but I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the others in this series.
