At the heart of this inter galactic war is the story of fated mates coming together. Melina is a commander in the Alliance. She's strong,capable, and pretty fearless. Wulf Caradoc is the eldest son of the Prime royal line. Melina discovers she's also Prime and Wulf's mate. At first she fights the mating, but in order to fight rebels and traitors, she and Wulf must become true battle mates. There is an interesting dynamic in the relationship. Both of them are commanders, ready to jump into the fray without thinking. Once they become mates, they have to work together. Wulf has a hard time allowing Mel to do her job, he is an uber OTT alpha that just wants her safe. He has to learn to trust her abilities, which she does prove time &again that she can handle herself. Loved their relationship, true equals made for each other. One nit-pick for this book, Wulf growls at Mel, and he can be so loud it physically hurts her.And at one point Wulf, his brothers and father growl as one and they rattle the windows. WTF?!Aside from that WTF-ery, I liked it, it was intriguing and different. It kind dragged after Mel and Wulf finished resolving their relationship and then several chapters are dedicated to catching the rebels. It was boring and needless.The set up for Nadia and Huw, as well as the other female officer with Ilyn was good. I wish that this series were going to be continued, but as it's been three years since this book, I'm guessing that it's not.
