I think 3.5 stars is a decent rating for this first book in the series. Catherine is an OK heroine but I'm totally sucked in by wanting to know all the secrets of Watts. I want to know who he really is, who he works for and why he does what he does. This book doesn't end so much with a cliff hanger but rather just leaves a bunch of unanswered questions that you want to know the answers to. A bit anticlimactic but also refreshing in a genre that feeds on those type of series.Watts and Catherine have been email pen pals since finding each other on an online dating site 6 months ago. Finally curiosity has gotten the best of Catherine and she requests to meet Watts in person to "experience what all the other women get to experience" with him. Watts had made it very clear right from the outset of their "relationship" that they would never meet so he is taken by surprise at her request but admits he's also intrigued. So he agrees to one night with her. They meet at a swanky hotel bar and immediately make their way up to a room. As soon as their alone Watts is on Catherine but she ends up ruining the moment when she starts asking personal questions which go completely against Watts' privacy code. He leaves without fulfilling his promise to give her "the fucking of her lifetime." A week goes by without any correspondence between them when out of the blue Watts requests to see Catherine that night. He meets her at another hotel but decides upon seeing her to take her back to her place. Again as before he's on her as soon as the door closes to her apartment. They spend the night together and that's where the book leaves off.We learn much more about Catherine on this book than we do about Watts. Although there is a brief snippet of what he does for a living shown and he is constantly making references to his alias, undercover doings and that he's not from here. He also talks about having a "trauma bond" with Catherine although we are not made aware exactly what the trauma is for either of them. Catherine briefly talks about being raised in foster care from birth to when she aged out at 18. She had a devastating illness and was deemed "un-adoptable". She never knew her parents and has closed herself off from people until Watts. The story is intriguing , it keeps you wondering who the hell is Watts and what is he hiding ? but also makes you hot and bothered. Watts is hot and sexy with his cold and composed self. Catherine is a girl who's all by herself and she prefers it that way , that is until she meets Watts.I liked how it is a short story, to the point with not too much details that'll make you less interested in finishing it. It's a change from the usual stories that I've read.
