Problem Solving 101: A Simple Book For Smart People (2009) - Plot & Excerpts

This is not going to be a classic business strategy book. My expectations for this book were under a different context. I expected it to be fun and short. I thought it shared certain similarities to a Pixar film; it's great for kids to read but also has meaning and significance for the adults to enjoy. It lays out some good fundamentals for understanding and solving problems and can be particularly useful when applied. My opinion: A book that every 10-15 year old should read. The problem solving tools are covered in a simple manner, written beautifully and makes for a brilliant read. The tool boxes (as the author calls them) that are covered in the book are:1. Logic Tree2. Yes/No Tree3. Problem-solving Design Plan4. Hypothesis Pyramid5. Pros and Cons; Criteria and EvaluationAll are explained in the context of various stories, and make for interesting reading.Cons: The ability to analyse a problem correctly by asking the right set of questions is taken as a given by the author. My experience tells me otherwise. It is one of the toughest things to do - the ability to ask the right set of questions that help you understand the scope of the problem correctly the first time itself.

Nice illustration, handsome book, step-by-step approach, but not as useful as I'd hoped.
