2.5 starsThis was not bad read but I couldn't overlook my issues with itThe good:I love the coverEthan is a nice guy and Blair is a good sweet girl, I loved the way she stood by her best friend even in very hard times. The writing was goodThe badThe story line is not very original seeing I have read this kind off book many times before, but I normally love these books: this book had instant love at the first math tutoring Ethan was already feeling things he has never felt before for a girl before and she is beautiful bla bla bla.I love the whole geek-shy and man whore love but it the cliches are to much ( virgin at 18 really?)The drama at the camping with the list felt unreal and just plane stupidThe babe and princess names please I will be buying the sequel because I'm so damn curious to see what happens next. * ARC provided by the author for an honest review * Promises Hurt by Elle Brooks was a great read. It had the right formula that we love in a good book: sexiness, tears, and a great story line. At points we were totally sobbing, but we couldn't put the story down! We couldn't wait to see what happened next! The story starts out with two best friends, Blair and Emily. They had been friends since they were little. We learned on pretty early in the book that Emily was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Of course, Blair and Emily are both devastated. Even though her friend was dying, Blair always stayed by her side. They went to homecomings together and she was always there with her in the hospital throughout her treatments. One day, Emily's nurse went to Blair's house, and she just knew that something had happened. She had died. Before Emily's nurse left, she gave Blair a note. A note that Blair couldn't bear to open until three months later. When she did open it, she found a letter and a list. A list was a Bucky list that Emily had made. She wanted Blair to do the things on the list that she never got to do herself before she passed away. There were expected things like visit the Grand Canyon, but there was one item that really stuck out: Lose her V card (with Ethan Jamison). Emily was practically in love with Ethan and Blair really didn't even fathom doing anything like that with Ethan.Ethan had a huge amount of responsibility on his shoulders in order to have good grades in order to get a scholarship. He was in a band, but his father pushed him to get a scholarship. When his math grades were failing, his teacher gave him information to get in contact with a Tudor at school. He text the tutor, and made an appointment to meet. He never thought that he would be stuttering over his words around his tutor, which happened to be Blair. He found himself drawn to her and not able to think about anything but her. Even with his player reputation, he couldn't get her off of his mind. Will Emily's bucket list be completed with the one person that she was envisioning? This story has a cliffhanger....keep a lookout for Book 2!REVIEWED BY JESSICA SIMES FOR SUMMER'S BOOK BLOG
