This book was well written and an easy read. But it is also very predictable and ends with an amazing happily ever after type ending. The main character travels to America to marry her sweetheart but it has been 5 years since she has seen him and doesn't want to marry him when she arrives. You see the characters going through "growing pains" till halfway through the book she accepts Christ and things start to turn around and then at the climax he rededicates his life to God and everything magically gets better. This is the first book I have read by this author. The book was a cute romance and I think I will check out another book by her as well. I am not into the whole, "If you just believed enough God would fix it all" theory. So I am hoping her other books do not follow the same exact formula. A good, solid offering from Kansas author, Kim Vogel Sawyer. Her descriptions of prairie life in 1870's Kansas are exceptional. It does take quite a long while to warm up to Emmaline, but her simple, and at times very solitary life on the plains, changes her from a homesick, self-involved child to a woman of strength and maturity. A somewhat restrained romance, but recommended reading for fans of christian fiction.
What do You think about Promisiunea Primaverii (2011)?
This is another inspirational western which is available as an audiobook.

I was ready to slap her. Too whiny, too close to home.
