Pōru Sensei No Yukai Na Dōbutsu Byōin (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
This was another of my Free Friday selections from B&N for my Nook. I want to thank B&N for offering it as I might not have picked it up otherwise. I found the story of a recently graduated veterinarian amusing and entertaining. From his first day on the job it follows him for about 6 months with a slew of stories from the usual dogs, cats and birds to reptiles and farm animals with even a camel and monkey thrown in the mix. For those of you who are skittish about animal stories I will say that the author treats each episode humanely, with humor not horror. *****SPOILER ALERT***** All animals treated by the vet end up healthy, with just one short mention of a dog being hit by a car not turning out so well. If you like James Harriot's All Things Bright and Beautiful series, then you will enjoy reading Welshman fictional novel, Pets in a Pickle. All the zany antics of pets and their owners is found in this book, from the people who treat their pets as people to the two "bell" sisters who never get in a hurry about anything, even emergency life and death situations. They calmly discuss every situation as if they were out for a summer stroll. You laugh at the bald parrot who is so stressed out about her owner abandoning her, she plucks herself bald. Read it you'll love it.
What do You think about Pōru Sensei No Yukai Na Dōbutsu Byōin (2009)?
Cute and sometimes funny, but the puns got old about halfway through.
