Pure & Sinful (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

It has been a while since I have read a paranormal read. I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this but I miss paranormal from time to time and sometimes you find stories that can be just a little too cheesy and this one was really good. I was pulled in and wanted to know where things were going to go and although I thought I knew where things were going there were a few moments that I wasn't 100% sure and had to just keep reading. That ending though, I was not expecting that one. I was a bit surprised. I will more than likely read the next. :) What a great beginning to a series. I loved this - and this is coming from someone who is pretty hesitant when it comes to paranormal books. The characters in the book are so wonderful. Dee, Marc, and Riona make quite the trio. Each has his or her own personality - complete with quirks and flaws. And, of course, Marc's flaw was my favorite. Talk about a sexy, outspoken priest. His edgy personality is to die for - and who doesn't love a bit of a corrupt Catholic? Even the secondary characters have some rockin' personalities - Ramiel is hilarious, studly, and just the right amount of sarcastic asshole. And Jerry is a mystery up until the end. Not to mention, the book is wonderfully written. Aside from a few editing errors, the plot flowed nicely. Plus McRae had an endless array of comical metaphors and analogies that had me laughing out loud. I absolutely loved the light-hearted writing. Juxtaposed with such a serious and edgy plot, the bits of humor are just refreshing. While I completely recommend this book to anyone who loves a little corruption, some demon hunting, and hot characters, I do have to warn about the ending. It was definitely my least favorite thing about the book. The book was left hanging - clearly asking for a sequel - which I totally respect. However, I was still kind of confused. A lot happened in the last few pages, and I was a bit confused. But I think this bit of confusion and heartbreak just makes it more likely that I will read the sequel. So good marketing strategy there, McRae.
