I'm giving this a 4 star rating but I could very well lower over the next couple days.without giving any details away, I'll give you my thoughts as I was reading:prologue: woah, this is effed upbeginning: and now it's more effed upmiddle: what the what, theories abound. because it surely can't be what I think it is.end: ah crap, it is what I think it is.epilogue: woah, this is really effed up.if I wasn't dead inside, I may have cried at the end. Sometimes you read a book that is just SO out there, so unbelievably dark and scary and not because it is a horror novel, but more because it is a deeply disturbing story that could really happen...in real life with real people you might know.David was one messed-up-from-childhood individual...and from the first opening pages that caused me to get goosebumps while reading, I just knew that I was in for a treat of a completely insane and yet deeply emotional book. Then we get flashback chapters interspersed with present day accounts of Emma's life, her childhood just as damaging as David's but one that made her the strong woman she is today and not the sociopath that David became. As someone who studied psych back in my college days, I was sucked into this story hardcore and appreciated the character studies.I was just in awe at the details and intricate web of stories that Claire Wallis wove into Push...they were so compelling and I just could not flip those pages fast enough or even put this thriller/romance down, taking my kindle everywhere with me until it was finished...(ccoking dinner, doing laundry and even trying to brush my teeth with the damned thing propped up on the counter!)This is a book you will read with a huge lump in your throat...you just KNOW how it will end, but you can't quite believe it will really GO there because damn it all, you are in denial, like someone who is so in love you believe with all your soul that "you" are different and it will never happen to "you"! I was in shock but not completely surprised at the outcome in the final pages and am DYING for book 2 now because seriously, how can an author be so cruel to their readers to just end it like that...SERIOUSLY!!! SO, definitely get this one all my dark and twisted reader friends...you will love it, you will hate it, you will be a glutton for punishment and you will crave more, more, more..it was THAT original and interesting.***** 5 ***** "mind-blowing, sexy and heart-breaking" stars
