Good continuation book for a decent mystery-adventure series. While not on par with Cussler or James Patterson, McDermott is an enjoyable author to read. The characters are while defined and developed if a bit over the top, but isn't everybody's adventure characters now a days. I have read the entire series and after several books the pattern unfortunately becomes redundant but if you can push through and just read the books for what they are you will enjoy this and the other books in the series. I do love me some good action novels and I feel that with this the author returns to a fun series with another enjoyable thrill ride. As always the villains are a bit transparent but it doesn't really matter as the point of these books isn't to give a deep and meaningful story but rather to make things explode, preferably helicopters. I do have to say that I am proud to say that I figured out at least one of the twists that happened. It's not that it was obvious, it's that it happened in an episode of Tale Spin. I really like this series and the characters that were introduced in this were a little deeper than you expect to find in an action/adventure novel with as many exploding helicopters as possible. As usual the character work in these books is kind of iffy, but it is important and it could be a lot worse than it's presented here. The characters do actually move the plot along nicely and the depth to the action is dependent on them and their actions.I really do love this series for the ideas that the villains have and how they plan to carry them out. The plan in this is rather brilliant and there's a twist that makes it worth it.
Thoroughly enjoyed this Chase/Wilde extravaganza of adventure and suspense - a thrill a page.
