Quarantine - Plot & Excerpts

He smiled at me, and it seemed so genuine. I really hoped I wasn’t just some easy conquest for him.
“Do you want one?” he asked, gesturing with his beer bottle.
“I’d love one.”
He leaned over and pulled a bottle of out of the cooler, opening it before handing it to me. Dean had put his jeans back on but hadn’t bothered with a shirt. He looked good enough to eat. Again.
“So,” he asked, turning to look at me. “What brings you to Jericho Falls?”
“I’m just passing through,” I said, playing with the label of my beer bottle.
“Where are you headed?”
“Nowhere in particular.” I shrugged, not wanting to meet his gaze.
“If you’re in trouble, we can help.”
“You’re sweet,” I said with a laugh. “But you can’t help me with this kind of trouble. I’d really rather not talk about it, if you don’t mind.”
“Sure.” He took another drink of his beer. “Are you tired?”
“Surprisingly, no. I actually feel great.”
He played with the wedding ring on my finger, and I didn’t pull away, even though I wanted to.
