I give up on this, I quit! It is not a book, but rather segments of the other 3 books written in the hero's perspective. It's put together as a collection of scenes (with author's notes on each), therefor there is no flow, it's disjointed parts of books I read months and months ago (might even have been over a year ago). But this time written from the guy's point of view. Not even that really, because, this wasn't the whole scene rewritten, it was just us being dropped into a MOMENT in the scene! Just a fragment of the origanal scene, just so we could 'hear' his thoughts. WTF!? As free little chapterlets this is fine, but as a 'book', NOT FINE!!I had to quit reading it because I didn't remember the series well enough to fill in the gaping holes the author left so she wouldn't have to rework a scene. There was no copy-paste of the scene (which I also hate), there was no re-wording the scene, there was no re-imagining the scene. It was just a 'remember the part where... well, here is what he thought in that moment'. Well, that's shit! That's the stupidest format to a 'book' I've ever heard of! A total cop-out, lazy, and not acceptable. I gather that these were mostly from a blog, as an experiment of sorts. Well, THAT is how they should have stayed, in my opinion!! Free. To pay for these disembodied blurbs is bull shit. So, not so happy with it, or the fact it cost about as much as a full book. I am not happy to have paid for this at all. It's bad enough when author's do the final book in the series as a mad race through the previous books, all from the guy's perspective. That is bad enough. I hate that, I don't want to reread the fucking series, I just want to know what he was thinking! But what makes this worse, is like I said, it's in bits and pieces. I just hate it. Just short little blurbs about what was going on in his mind at certain 'key' moments. Moments that aren't retold really, but hinted at, and glossed over. I wouldn't have enjoyed this 'book' even if I had read it directly after having read the other three.I do love reading it from the guy's point of view, quite frankly, I'd rather read from the guys' point of view on most of these books. I find it much more amusing than reading from the girls'. I am a girl, I can kind of guess what she is thinking, I'd much rather see things from the guy's view point. That is more foreign and entertaining. In my opinion. But, if it's not written exclusively in his pov, I like it when they do the changing pov. Some chapters are through her eyes, and other chapters are from his point of view. I like those. I do not like re-reading the entire series in 1 book, I don't care if it is from a different vantage point. Not only that, but almost every time, I would have rathered just read the series from his pov in the first place! So, this 'book' I do not like. Even though I did enjoy seeing the world through his eyes. I didn't like the format of the book, at all. And I didn't like the assumption that I remembered the previous books in such detail that a mention of the scene suffices to make me recollect. I do not know which is worse, copy-pasting the whole book and condensing it into one book so that we can re'live' the book from a different pov, or NOT copy-pasting, and just letting us twisting in the wind. I was constantly thinking 'wtf? What was it that happened here?' I can't remember! So, I didn't care what he thought about it, since I didn't remember what 'it' was!! ARGHI would have given it 1-star, however, because I did like the writing, and I liked his pov a lot, I gave it 2-stars. This book is a fabulous companion to the series. You get to finally know what was going through Colton's head! It gives him much needed depth in the beginning of the relationship. This is not a stand alone!! It really should be read with the series or right after the 3rd book. I love getting to relive all my favorites moments and seeing his POV. A wonderful treat for fans of the series.I listened to the audiobook narrated by the team of Tatiana Sokolov and Sean Crisden, wonderful as always. They make such a great pair on all their reads. Wonderfully consistent voices and distinct characterizations. Their energy and pace are perfect for the story. I can not even get into how much I love this pairing, almost as much as I love Rylee and Colton!!What a wonderful treat at the end of the series. I am still waiting on audiobooks for the friends HEA. I want Haddie and Quinlan, like now! Please let them be as awesome as this series was, with plenty of catch up with Rylee and Colton!Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and ratings are my own.
What do You think about Raced (2014)?
I loved this series but I have a hard time to follow this book. Unless you switch back and forth between the books, it is hard to remember the story. I read the other books in this series while ago and when I start reading this, I couldn't remember what was happening. I know Ms. Bromberg tried to make a unique experience of POVs from other Authors by not repeating the whole story from Colton view but still I wanted to get the feeling of excitement which I had while I was reading the other books in this series and I didn't. The series is fantastic to read and I loved it but I needed a little more of the story in this book and not just what was going on in Colton's head in particular scenes. In overalls, I highly recommend to read this series and make sure to read them in order. You will not be disappointed.
