Packed with drama. Twists and turns and passion I wanted to love this, but I had some major issues with the hero Diego. His hot and cold turned me off and he never really redeemed himself enough for my taste. Now, if you like your alphas a bit on the a-hole side you may really dig them .Raine was an amazing strong heroine who'd been hurt too many times. The shell she built around herself to keep safe trapped her. Her journey of growth was painful but necessary. I read a number of reviews for this book prior to buying and I saw that most of the low ratings were because of editing and a few continuity issues so I thought I would buy this on audiobook and see if the story and characters were strong enough to overcome the technical issues. I have to say I made a great choice this is an AWESOME listen! Both narrators are terrific and I loved how they were used to give the story another dimension. I really enjoyed the back stories of each character, especially Raine and Claire...their back story was infact like an additional character in the novel and it was the string that brought all the rest of the story together. Diego was a bit different, his back story was delivered a bit at a time until it was totally spewed at us in an intense scene 2/3 of the way through. There are many important characters who are integral to the story the most important is Prosper who I adored. Father figure, protector, badass and safe place, I could feel how Raine felt about him the emotion jumped from the pages. Claire, Reno, Pinky, Jules, Crow were all terrific characters and I look forward to seeing them in future novels in the series. The story moved quickly and the use of backflashes helped fill in the reasoning behind the characters actions and feelings. The emotion was intense, I could feel how Raine felt about Claire and Prosper...I could feel her hesitation about Diego and her fear. I loved the craziness of Ellie and how the climax happened it had me on the edge of my seat to see how all of it played out. Because I listened to this story I have to give it a 4.5 star rating, I'm sure if I read it and was annoyed by the editing or lack there of..it would be a lower rating so I would recommend you listening to this one on audiobook.... I personally loved it. I'm off to see if Claire's story has been released yet!
