so the blurb: a werewolf "outcast" from his pack met the new alpha. They got the hots for each others and went on to bump uglies. Turned out they were mates but one of them didn't realize it. Some baddies weren't happy. They proceeded to try causing problems.Typical of werewolf stories so yeah, the book wasn't bad nor was it good. I actually didn't understand the other reviews. I mean i read the reviews first and I was prepared for River abuse of his authority or the abuse of Raphael's feelings but I didn't see it when I read the book so i was left perplexed. Did I miss something? Did I read the wrong book by some unfathomable coincidence? Don't know. As for Raphael's lies, wasn't it explained that he wanted more time to deal with it? It's not written in so many words but it's kinda obvious.Nonetheless, they were some problems in the book. There were a few places were the story seems forced and the writing was awkward. It left a bad taste, that was I rate it a 2,5. It wasn't really original nor was it badly written overall.(So to be clear, I rate such as this: -1 star: badly written , no edits to speak of, awful story. -2 star: good story, bad edits, poorly written in some places -3 star: good story, not really original but pleasant -4 star: good story, good writing...basically I loved it but I won't read it over and over. -4 star: I'll read that book over and over, it never gets old.) I'm sorry to say it, but this book just rubbed me the wrong way. It starts out as a traditional enough shifter story, focused on the plot and adding some hot sex. There is no real emotion beween the two main characters at all. About 2/3 of the way through pack politics, fighting with a rival pack and several attacks from an insulted ex-beta who should have been punished the first time, there was finally some hope for a deeper connection when Raphael finally admits River is his mate. And then it all turns to sh*t as River becomes truly nasty. Yes, he should have punished Raphael for hiding from him, but treating him like dirt, using the man's emotions against him, is just vile and uncalled for. It left me with a really sour taste and, I'm sorry to say, wishing I hadn't read this.If you're not looking for a romance, or characters with some decency in them, you may like this book.
What do You think about Raphael's Mating (2011)?
Weak shifter story. Didn't feel it, even though there was a cop involved. *Yawn* Sorry Sunny.

Predictable plot, uninspired sex scenes, pretty much instantly forgotten what it was about.
