3.75 Try Again Stars which I gladly round to 4. My favorite in this series is still the first book, When You're Ready. However, I was not disappointed with Garrett and Mia's story. Once again, JL Berg brings her characters to life and lets you into their world. She is a natural with dialogue and letting the reader become part of the circle of friends in her books. While each book of this series is a stand alone it does help to have read the previous books. Clare, Logan, Leah, Declan, and the whole clan play important roles in Ready for You. Knowing their history makes the story more than what it would be without knowing. This is a story of forgiveness, healing, and redemption. It is a story of a second chance at first love and learning to let the past go in order to dwell in the present and dream of the future. It is a story of regret and learning to finally forgive yourself and others, but most of all yourself. It is a story of what happens when you listen to people instead of your heart, of plans made and then ruined in an instant, of bad decisions, decisions made without consulting the person most involved, and a story of how easy it is for someone to stand on the side line while someone they're supposed to love unconditionally is kicked to the curb. Mia wore me out with the whinny at times. Yet, I think she needed to so that you could realize how truly devastated she was by decisions she made. The story begins at the end of Garrett and Mia's high school graduation ceremony. Clare is married to Ethan and they're expecting their first child, Maddie. The day after graduation is supposed to be the first day of Garrett and Mia's future. For some reason, Mia decides to walk away from it all. No explanation. No looking back. Only silence. For eight long years. Then the story fast forwards to the present. Mia is on her way back to Richmond, to her best friend, and to breaking her silence. I'm pretty sure this isn't the last in the series and I'll definitely be looking for future books. This group of characters stick with you and I look forward to reading more. Thank you to J.L Berg for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this great story. I need to start with an apology for the review being late, but I was dealing with a death in my family during the week that I was planning on writing the review and the funeral was on the day it should have gone live. Thank you for understanding J.L. because I was a complete wreck emotionally and wouldn't have been able to write the review. Like many others that have read this series, I have been waiting for Garrett's story and boy, did J.L Berg nailed it out of the park! We had glimpses of Garrett missing someone, but we didn't know just how much that person meant to Garrett. Then we meet Mia in this amazing story and we see a different side of Garrett and I was rooting for them!Right from the beginning, I knew I was going to cry, but I wasn't expecting to cry as much as I did. Reading about what each one went through when Mia left with no explanation, what happened while she was gone and why she left the way she did really made me root for them even more. Mia's parents, well, I am not too fond of them. However one of them makes a change and causes things to become okay with that parent. It was great seeing a glimpse into Claire and Logan's life as well as Leah and Declan's. I can't wait to see what happens next for these three couples.
What do You think about Ready For You (2014)?
3.5 stars I liked the story but found myself skimming through parts to get to the end.
