Rearview Mirror (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

Rearview Mirror is a thrilling murder mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat from the very first line "Sleet whipped Linda Taylor across the face." It was so hard to put down, and had me totally absorbed in the story. I would reccomend this to anyone who loves a good mystery with a twist. The main problem is that Fiona doesn't know who is sending her horrible anonymous gifts that bring back her past. The book takes place in a small university town. Fiona is a teacher at a college, she is smart, and has had a terrifying past. James is her close friend who has been with her through all her trials. Kimberly is a revengful student caught cheating on one of Fiona's assignments. Fiona got in a horrible accident when she was in college and it killed the passenger in her car; her roommate Mia. She has tried ever since then to forget and to move on. She is a teacher at a college and one day catches one of her students, Kimberly, plagiarizing an essay. The student turns to revenge and finds out about Fiona's past. But Kimberly isn't the only one out to get Fiona. Meanwhile, Fiona's ex-fiance's mom is murdered. She goes to the funeral to find that he is getting a divorce. She keeps getting more and more mysterious gifts. She doesn't know who it is anymore. Is it the revengful student, or even her old love's ex-wife? James is also a teacher at the college, who has been helping Kimberly ever since Mia died. James and Fiona spend more and more time together. Just when you think you know who the murderer is, the author throws in a surprise. I loved how this book was so intense and kept me wanting more. But it did have a little bit to much going on that made it confusing at some parts. I would reccomend this book to anyone who loves mysteries. I think the theme of this book would be that you never know who is out to get you. I really enjoyed this book, and if you love mysteries then you will too! Wow, what a book! It need to be 4.5 stars. I did liked the story overall. Yeah, I did know who did it. I did liked how this book sucked me within it's pages. I did get caught up in the story, so many stories going on all at once, it was interesting reading them and how everything intertwined to created one likeable, suspenseful novel. I was never annoyed that the book hadn't ended after I had figured out. One thing that I didn't understand was why was the book named "Rearview Mirror?" Unless it meant that Finoa, the main character, always lived in the passed, she always looked behind her? I don't know I was expecting, that someone was/would be flowing her in her car or something to that effect.
