Generally a sweet book, but I didn't like the ending and I would have liked the author to go a little deeper with the Lacey Jane character. There was a lack of depth and empathy, that some of my favorite children's books manage to capture. This story had great characters but it stayed on the surface which makes it an easy independent read for younger students, but not a class read-aloud quality book. Bluebonnet Award Nominee 2014-2015This book is perfect for girls who are go-getters and who want to make things happen. This is especially true for Rebel because She does not end up getting to do what she wants to do over the summer--an archeology dig, but she learns a lot about other people and herself while she looks after her nephew in a mobile home park over the summer.Great characters and a believable plot. this book is a great read for middle grade girls before they really care much about boys.
Again, another book given to me by my professor.Decent for a children's book.
