Red At Night (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

4.5 stars. I'm not sure what I was expecting from this very short book. I loved Katie McGarry's book Pushing The Limits so I wanted to like this too. And I wasn't disappointed. It had all the feels and angst and lovey feelings that a long book would have and it didn't feel rushed or like their relationship was going too quickly. The story was sweet and I do love a good 'opposites attract' book. The only reason it's not a complete 5 stars is that some issues were left un resolved, like where she was going to live and how she was going to get into college and his sadness over James Cohen. I guess it is meant to be an open ending to let your imagination run away with you, but I'd prefer to know what happens. This was a great book and it took no time to read. Recommended to people that don't have much time to read or if you're looking for a fun and meaningful contemporary. Thanks for reading, bye! You know those books you start and then have to keep reading it until you are finished? Well, this was one of those for me. I was at my (really long) college enrollment when I downloaded this on my phone and then carried on reading it at home on my iPad and finished it in 2 days. From the start I was waiting for Stella and Jonah to get together and when they (finally) did it was so realistic that it just made it more special and really added to the storyline for me. I think this book should be read by every teenager (and older ages too but defiantly from around age 12-20) as it really makes you understand that life can change at any moment and what you see someone to be like may not be the whole story. Also, by using the character of Cooper the effects of bullying is shown (though not too seriously so that a younger teenager may benefit from the knowledge of how they could be affecting another persons life) and this will hopefully teach them not to do it. It is shown that although friends are important you should evaluate your friendships and learn that just because they do something you don't have to copy. That you have to be your own person and do what you think is right. It also shows that hope should exist and that if you want something in life nothing and no one should stop you from at the very least, trying.I think this is a really enjoyable read and an inspiring story. If you have the time I highly suggest that you read this - it's free to download as an ebook so even if you don't see it the way I have you won't lose anything.
