I actually quite enjoyed this book. I can see what has been referenced in other reviews regarding the themes being expressed elsewhere but I still loved the 'feel' of it. The gradual unfolding of the history of the Weres & Vampires was handled nicely in my opinion, made me feel as though I was listening to a storyteller who was intent on me absorbing the lesson of one level of the story prior to going to the next. I was lucky enough to grab this while the book was on offer (free for Kindle) and since I had never read any erotica before I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to get out of my comfort zone. Needless to say I was, very, pleasantly surprised!I adored the new take on vampiric lore and myth that the author came up with - I won’t go into too much detail as I don’t want to spoil it. However the twist was believable and held weight. This allowed the story to progress much further, in my opinion, than any other vampire story currently out there. The characters were well written and relatable even though they were mystical beings; they were not so far-fetched that you couldn’t engage with them. The interactions between the characters captivated my imagination for the duration of the book – I started to care for them, and wanted them to succeed in their endeavours. The plot of the novel did not take a backseat to the love-making as I had expected it too; both were an integral part of the story – remove the sex and the story and the connection to the characters would’ve crumbled away. The nature of the plot was one of my most favourite things about this book; it was not lacking in drama and had just the perfect amount of suspense to keep you turning the page. However I did find that the length of the book was a little shorter than I expected – I wanted it to go on and on. But I believe this has been done due to the sequel, which I recently found out about - much to my joy!
What do You think about Regina In The Sun (2008)?
A well told story. A little more "vampirish" than I've ever read, but I'm willing to read another.
