Rehearsals For Oblivion: Act One (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

I wouldn't even sell them to you' You can't see the text, either. A classic, you say? How can you possibly know that? The transcript hasn't been read in the last twenty years -- I made sure of that. Whatever you say, it's my classic and I still say no. I should never have translated the play. Why, you ask? Do you really want to know the answer?
Damn it, boy! You don't know what it was like, You weren't even born then. Those were grey, leaden years. General Emilio Garrastazu Medici held the country in his powerful clutches; the Congress and the Cortes nothing more than ghosts. Fleeting phantoms of the Second Republic. Mere puppets, really. The regime issued Institutional Act #5 that, to cut it short, revoked the Constitution and gave the police the justification to arrest anyone and to suppress any work of art, any written word.
I was in college back then. I saw every person I admired -- singers, writers, composers, movie makers, journalists-being detained, forced to leave the country or suddenly go 'missing', to reappear months or years after.
