REMEMBRANCE - Plot & Excerpts

She hummed quietly to herself, as a smile played on her bruised lips. The birds called out and the air had started to warm a little as the sun chased the moon to bed. She felt contented and happy.
Upon entering her room, she slipped her soiled nightgown to the floor and bathed from the small basin that stood beside her dresser. After splashing the cold water over her heated skin, she changed into her blue riding outfit, and then sat in front of the mirror, running the brush through her tangled curls, still humming her tune.
It had been the most amazing night of her life. She and Tom had spend the best part of the darkened hours exploring and then re-exploring each other’s bodies, until her sore body had refused to take any more explicit torment. Afterwards, they had lain entwined beneath the branches of the ancient oak, feeling truly bonded and contentedly silent. They quietly watched the moonlight’s hypnotic dance across the clear waters of the crystal pool, neither wanting to spoil the moment with unnecessary words.
