Although these types of romances are not my cup of tea for the most part, this one was decent. I really like the hero of the book and thought the heroine was only okay. I thought she was a bit cold and detached. The mystery story was a nice incidental but nothing I would actually read the story for. So I don't regret reading it but I doubt I would ever read it again. I've read a lot better romance novels but I've also read a lot worse. THE RETURN OF THE VISCOUNT by Gayle Callen is a wonderful Victorian historical romance. Book 1 in "The Brides Redemption" trilogy. Out of desperation Cecilia Mallory, seeks a mail order groom. Enter, Viscount Michael Blackthorne,a military man who unbeknownst to Cecilia owes her father a debt of honor. What follows is danger, romance, passion, secrets, forgiveness, grief,a marriage of convenience, and of course love. Fast paced and intriguing story that will have you turning pages as this delightful, serious at times, couple learn to love and forgive. I can hardly wait for the next installment of "The Brides Redemption". A talented author of Victorian historical romance.Received for an honest review from the publisher and Above The Treeline. What do You think about Return Of The Viscount (2012)?
It could have went on just a little bit longer for a better ending. At least an epilogue.
