2.5 starsThis book started out a 3.5 to 4 star read and slowly sank under the weight of its own delusions. The entire premise was a red herring. Evan hitches a ride-share across the country with the mysterious Lucas. During the cross-country trip, Evan learns that a serial killer is on the loose, and despite his crazy attraction to Lucas and his warm and fuzzy feelings when Lucas is around, Evan starts to worry that Lucas IS the serial killer. Of course, that's probably because Lucas does everything but announce it. Because Lucas is so closed off and acts all kinds of shifty, it's easy (for Evan, who is an idiot) to assume the worst. I don't understand why Lucas was even doing a three-day jaunt across the country considering his profession? I kept waiting for Lucas's scar to have meaning, since Evan notices it and thinks it looks familiar, but that was a dead end. I was also expecting Evan's past and his guilt over what happened to his brother to somehow tie into his feelings for Lucas, but that got dropped too. The whole "climax" at the end was a unnecessary and over the top. And the ending was too tentative for my liking. The potential here was drowned in melodrama and a plot laden with loose ends. Wow. This was a pleasant surprise. It was a quick read but man what a ride. Evan is just so damn cute and OMG Lucas is ... Heaven. haha. LC Chase always impresses me though. What fun this was. We had two guys fall in love on a road trip all while wondering if this god among men is an escaped serial killer (and i think he is just hot enough that i would have been ok with any outcome, but then Ive always had shitty taste in men.)This was exactly what I needed to read today. Enough suspense to keep me turning the page and a couple that I really wanted to see an HEA for. I would actually love to read about Evan and Lucas again, which is not something I say often. Kudos Ms Chase. Youve got me hooked! Solid 4.5 stars (only cuz i want more did i drop the .5... i kno...im greedy.)
What do You think about Riding With Heaven (2012)?
I very much enjoyed reading this one. It was predictable but still a great read.

My second L.C. Chase book and the second that's left me...underwhelmed.

Too predictable, although I really liked Lucas and Evan.
