Moving her limbs—hell, just moving her neck—sent spikes of pain throughout her system. Dawn warmed into day, and then day cooled into evening. But by the time Matt flew circles around their destination in New York City, Alisa was partially convinced days had gone by. Her sense of time warred with her fatigue; it was all she could do to keep her eyes open, let alone breathe deeply. Matt circled a few times before he finally dove. Her hands clawed into Matt’s horn and shoulder on their own accord, her being too worn to consciously handle the adrenaline rushing through her.
