It's a sweet book, wholesome, gentle and kind. Good people in a beautiful place being nice to each other. There is nothing wrong with that, but I like my books with a little teeth, a little edge. I like my books to 'bite' me and not let go until the end. This book didn't 'bite'. Cliffhanger, not my cup of tea either.I like to see the two main characters have a little bit more chemistry, more tension, more build up. I like to like the Heroine, but I find myself disliking the heroine in this book. Early in the book, the heroine's mum mentioned her ex-husband's name four years after their separation, and at the mention of ex's name, the heroine ran off to cry (eventually fell asleep) leaving her mother to care for her two five year old kids in the midst of preparing for a heavy down pour........ Often I like to like the heroine in order to like a book, and being an irresponsible brat and an irresponsible mum is making me hard to like her, sorry! There is nothing wrong with a sweet book (like a nice cup of frappuccino with a healthy dollop of whipped cream) , I just like mine darker (like a complex bold cup of double espresso that cloak your throat while warming its way down). In this debut from author Beth Ehemann we meet Kacie a single mom of twins who helps her mom run Cranberry Inn. Kacie is a bit gun shy of getting involved with anyone because of her unfortunate experience with her twin's father.Brody is a hot-shot goalie for the Minnesota Wild, who ends up at the Cranberry Inn during a massive downpour. He is immediately taken by Kacie's subtle beauty. He begins the task of trying to win her over.If any of my reader friends know me, they know I LOVE jock romances. This book was no exception. I was immersed in the story from the very beginning. It was humorous, sweet and written very well. I have to even say I would compare it to Rachel Gibson's Seattle Chinook series. Beth has a great voice and makes you love and hate her characters. Kacie and Brody had great, on the page, chemistry. The supporting cast had me wanting more about their stories, especially Viper. And Blaire, what can I say about Blaire, well frankly she's a bitch and the girl you'll love to hate. I really don't like to give too much away in my reviews, so I will just leave you with this, RUN to amazon or your preferred book store and snatch this little gem up! You will not be disappointed. Book 2 is already in the works, and yes, I am totally wanting more of these two!~ Erin, 4 1/2 stars
What do You think about Room For You (2000)?
Enjoyable book. Sweet characters with a couple of predictable bad eggs thrown in for entertainment!!
