My first serious book boyfriend came from Cari Silverwood's Pierced Hearts series, Klaus. Then I read a little further in the series and fell in love with Pieter because he is so nasty in all the right ways. Move over Klaus. Then I read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and fell in love with Jamie. I reasoned it was okay to have the two different book boyfriends, because they meet different needs. But, then I read Rough Surrender and met Mr. Leonhardt Meisner and well, I have found the perfect all in one book boyfriend. This tells a wonderful and passionate story of Faith Evard, a strong and independent woman who does things on her terms, damn to hell what anyone else thinks and Leonhardt Meisner, who struggles with his desires of sadism. After finishing this book, I found myself feeling a moment of contentment, basking in this afterglow of finishing such a phenomenal book. With this being a historical BDSM erotica novel, you can't help but to appreciate the level of detail and research that Cari Silverwood did to draw the reader into the mystical world of a pre-World One Cario and feel like you are actually there. If you are a fan of historical and erotica novels, then Rough Surrender will give you the best of both worlds. I can not praise this book enough. I am a huge fan of Silverwood's writing, but this book just wowed me beyond what I was expecting. "Rough Surrender" was my first Cari Silverwood book, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Although I liked Faith, I felt like I never really got to know her, or know about her. And it seems that too much of her independence, intelligence, and assertiveness blows away like the sand when Leonhardt Meisner enters her life. We don't know much about him either -- except for the incident that caused him to retreat from his kink. When Faith and Leonhardt get involved, there is tons of extremely steamy sex. Boy..does Silverwood know how to melt the electrons in my Kindle!!There's murder (actually more than one), and some suspense to keep you turning the pages, but for a book with such smokin' hot sex, it felt rather flat.
