Ruby is your typical, all American, lovable teenager. Except one thing. She can see fairies. As you start reading this book, a smile will get stuck on your face and probably not leave. She has an annoying brother, a guy best friend, two fairy friends, and a crush on the pizza owner’s son. The wit in this book will leave you out right laughing a few times. I really enjoyed it! I’m always looking for humorous book and this one did the trick! The girl is of course is ga ga over her crush, who is Mr. Hotness. The author does emphases this quite a bit. I liked how Ruby was obsessed with ice-cream. I loved also how the world of Fae was brought in here and there. You never travel there, but get glimpses of its culture through the two fairies. I’m excited to read book two of this series! Ok, this is really YA and really really american. So probably I would have appreciated it more if I was an american teenager with little culture. The storyline is also quite slow in the beginning and a little bit too fast in the end. But I did like the main character sillyness, she was really cute.Oh... For the author: the italian grammar of that recipe is just terrible (I'm italian), let alone that the idea of having leonardo da vinci as italian connected to fairy land is just ridiculous. He was a genie and an engineer, there was not a gram of magic in his life. Oh, and considering it was ancient italian words like "botanica or rigenerazione" didn't exist...Why not use someone more shadowy like the Ghirlandaio or Paolo Uccello (who has btw quite a few pictures of dragons being killed)?
What do You think about Ruby Blue (2000)?
I really enjoyed this book! It is a really fun read~
