A widowed military wife and mother struggles with not being able to let go of her love for her husband. Each holiday season brings only more pain and less joy in her heart and it shows.A former soldier under her husband promised to watch over her, not realizing he would fall in love at the same time. He is visited by her husband's spirit who asks him to find a way to put 'Christmas Joy' back in her heart. This is a simple, yet warm and cozy read telling two stories of true love and letting go of the past to embrace the future. A tearjerker, for sure, as mentioned by Beth! I'm having a hard time with my review for this one. On one hand, it was a free book on Kindle meaning I wasn't expecting a whole lot. But on the other, it just wasn't very good, even with my trying to add in a dose of Christmas generosity. The ghost element felt tacked in for the most part, and honestly got downright annoying. The story would have functioned just fine without the presence of the former husband, and honestly might have been stronger without what felt like a cheap device designed to tack this story into the Paranormal Romance category. On the other hand, I liked the relationship between the two soldiers and felt that complexity might have been expanded on. So a little Christmas Spirit or not? I just don't know. But the way this was written just didn't quite work.

A sweet Christmas story about love, life, death, and the real meaning of Christmas.
