Save Rafe! (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

Middle School Save RafeBy James Patterson Review by Lili MessinaMiddle School Save Rafe is a book about a boy named Rafe who gets expelled from his school and then his new school gets closed. Rafe has to get back into Hills Village Middle School which is a public school but they will not accept him unless he goes to a camp and proves himself as a good teammate. This camp is not an ordinary summer camp, it is an extreme torture camp he attends with Rafe and his camp buddies Arnie, Burp, Veronica, Tea, Carmen, DJ, and Diego. They all do extreme things like rafting on a rocky fast river, climbing mountains and climbing obstacle courses. For every one of the obstacles they get tags and if they do extra help they also get tags. They all need ten tags halfway through the week and twenty by the end of the week of camp. If you don’t have ten by the middle of the week, you get kicked out of the group as Arnie did. Poor Arnie had to start all over again. Rafe and his friends had more luck and got the required twenty tags and passed the camp. At the end of the camp they wrote a letter to their future selves about how they want to be better students and people. Rafe is heading back to Hills Village Middle School but he quickly realizes that it is going to be hard work.I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend it if you like action and excitement. I also thought it was funny and the pictures helped me see the story in my mind. This book is the fifth book in the series. in this book Rafe needs to get into his old school. They send him to a camp that is ruthless. Rafe needs to survive to go back to school. I liked this book because it is shown through his perspective. Some parts were very confusing. I would have to go back and reread it. This book was lacking of and descriptive details but the pictures helped. It was one of the funniest books ever. I love when there is pictures. It helps me see what's going on and what something might look like. It had pictures and some comics that were really funny. I think others should read this.
