This book was definitely a 5 STAR read for me! I have to admit, I am a little surprised by how much I liked this book, because I worried that I wouldn't relate at all! I am a 23 year old female, who has never been in an abusive relationship myself, nor have I ever connected with the whole younger man/older woman relationship, and I do not have children…but this author wrote the story so well, in my opinion, that I felt I could connect. In my opinion, the fact that I felt so deeply for Lauren, sympathized with her, and was cheering for her, makes me lift my glass to the author! Good job, Lesley Jones!!!! A little about the book…I don't want to give anything away, but I do want to say that this is a book that deserves to be read! Lauren is a 45 year old woman who has slowly fallen out of love with her husband of 26 years, who has over time become abusive toward her. There is no amount of abuse that is okay, but I appreciated the struggle Lauren went through before finally deciding that she needed to leave. Because the fact of the matter is that many woman who are in such relationships feel embarrassed and guilty and unworthy. It's sad, but it's a fact so to see those struggles in Lauren made her character a little more real for me. A night out with the ladies, and Lauren comes across Gabe. Gabe is literally her guardian angel! The man saves her from all the hardship she was facing in the wake of her decision to leave her husband. Honestly, even though he was much younger than Lauren, he was mature and sexy as hell! And he loved her. He cherished her and proved to her that she was worthy of everything and more that she wanted! I can't wait to read the next book in this series! I read it in one day! Thank you Lesley for a wonderful story! Welcome to a beautiful series written by Lesley Jones, known for Carnage.. Saviour and Resolution are compelling. The series starts off with Lauren. Married but abused, she finally musters the strength and courage to leave her abusive spouse and start to live the life she deserves. Enter Gabriel, a true angel in disguise. He shows Lauren what it's like to truly be loved and works on bringing her self esteem back to where it should have been. Lauren is in her mid 40's, has been abused most of her married life and has two adult sons so she feels as if she has nothing to offer. Gabe shows her otherwise, while battling his own demons. However the abusive ex-husband is not out of the picture.
What do You think about Saviour (2013)?
Couldn't put it down, even though I started skimming sexy scenes...
