Say You Will (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

This is a book about family relationships as much as it is about finding that someone to spend your life with. Somewhat predictable, but still an interesting read. The theme of the story is honor and family, which is also on the family crest of the Summerhill's. The main character, Rosalind, returns to London after her father suddenly dies in a car crash with his mistress. She has been living in San Francisco for ten years to avoid her family. Upon returning, she meets a man, Nick. Sparks fly and they spend a lot of time together, though Nick is covering a secret for his stepsister, Summer (who happens to be the illegitimate daughter of Rosalind's father). Rosalind's mother tasks Rosalind and one of her sisters to locate the missing will of their father. This is first book by Kate Perry that I read and I only read it because it was free on iBooks and summary sounded intriguing. I was not disappointed! The book follows the main character, Rosalind, a wedding dress designer, who return home to England after her father dies in a car crash with his mistress. In light of the tragic event, the dynamics between Rosalind and her six sisters and mother changes from being "estranged" to becoming a "family", even to include the children of the mistress. The love stories between the characters: Nick & Rosalind, Em & Joe, Viola & Charles are realistic to their personality types. Luca is an Italian Stallion at best and I am curious about his relationship with the older sister, Beatrice, in the next books. The mother, Jacqueline is the greatest heroine as she reveals how to helped each of her daughters to succeed in life by funding secret "scholarships", regardless of the fact that she was not really present in their lives. She even paid for law school for the mistress's daughter, Summer, so that she can also have an opportunity to excel in life. She brings the sisters together and reminds them that they are a family, with or without their father present (in which, even in his life, he was not present in their lives). The book explores themes of anger, forgiveness, love and life. I definitely look forward to reading the remaining books in this series.
