Or like someone had intentionally eaten them all just to spite her. It’s because you ate them all in your freakish pregnancy state, I wanted to boom back. Which I didn’t because you did not mess with Mom when she’d been denied a craving. It’s one of the Pregnant Woman Laws of the Universe. Dad leaned against my bedroom door and sighed. “I was hoping she’d stick with the French toast for a while longer.” “I feel your pain,” I said. “Wanna make a break for it?” “Race you to the car.” He chuckled, then headed downstairs to coddle Mom and make things okay again in her roller coaster world. I gave Dad a few minutes before I followed. By the time I reached the family room, he had convinced her to lie down and rest while the two of us made a pickles run.
